A save the date postcard needed to be mailed out ASAP before most of the details about the event had been finalized. Prior to this, I always created invitations that communicated the already-decided aesthetic. This time, I was given a harlequin mask and the title and I needed to create the look and feel of the event on my own. I set the mask on the floor next to a glass door for natural light, photographed it and cut out the background, and came up with this dramatic, moody, magical feeling for the postcard. The invitation itself used a converted envelope, custom die-cut four-flap folder printed to look like brocade texture and sealed with gold wax. It was nominated for "Best Invitation" by a local publication.
